Today I want to share a card that I have made using the new Soft Pastels Assortment to colour an embossed piece of cardstock.
I began by using the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder to achieve the floral texture on the Basic White panel. To colour the raised elements, I used the spatula end of my Take Your Pick Tool to shave some of the pastel from the Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Mossy Meadow and Poppy Parade sticks. This powder was shaved onto five different blocks. Then I used a cotton bud/cue tip to pick up the powder and transfer the colour to different areas. (You could use a sponge dauber for this.)
When the embossed panel was coloured, I cut and adhered two pieces from the Brights 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The next step was to take a length of Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon, tie a bow and wrap it around and across the join between the two pieces of DSP. I then took another length of the same ribbon, trimmed away one edge and frayed the remaining ribbon to create a fringe. This was then adhered diagonally at the top of the Granny Apple Green DSP.
I attached a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back of a scrap of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and cut out the ‘hugs’ from the Layering Hugs Dies. The ‘SENDING YOU’ was stamped, using Gorgeous Grape ink, onto a scrap of Granny Apple Green cardstock and cut using a die from the same set. After adhering strips of the Brights DSP to the card insert and envelope, I coloured some Pearl Basics Jewels using the dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend.
The Soft Pastels Assortment is a great collection of 8 Stampin’ Up!® colours and gives a lovely, soft colour to this project. It is always fun finding ways to use current and new products.
