TEN LONG WEEKS

I cannot believe that it has been ten weeks since my last post … however, it has been a very busy 10 week term at school.

During this time there has been far too little cardmaking and creativity! I did manage to make it to one of the Stamp Club classes that I enjoy so much.

School finished Thursday and I am now enjoying the Easter weekend followed by another week and a half of school holidays!!

I know this might seem amazing …. but you should see my preparation to do list … that starts Monday!

So with that nasty list hanging over my head, yesterday I chose to make Good Friday the start of a crafting frenzy. The aim was to try to find my crafting ‘mojo’ and use up some retired papers to create some cards to pop away into my stash.

I am pleased to ‘announce’ that I have made 23 cards, used up some retired SU product and with the ‘Sending Good Thoughts’ card I finished half an hour ago … I have found my mojo.

This is an example of another way to source inspiration – be desperate – I started with retired Designer Series papers, matched current cardstock, selected current stamps and used a range of tools (1-2 retired) … but, I did it!

I hope you enjoy these samples from the last 24-36 hours! (P.S. spot the one card that is upside down!)

And … thank you to those of you who have checked in to my blog during my prolonged absence!

BACK TO SCHOOL

I am sorry that I am not posting any school related projects … this is, sadly, about me being BACK AT WORK!

For those of us in the southern hemisphere, we are about to begin our new school year … and if you’re a teacher, like me, you know what we’re preparing for.

So … it is with great sadness, that I mention that I might not be posting too many things over the next week or so!

Please drop by just in case I have decided to ditch my ‘homework’ and be creative … I hope to surprise myself and create some of the projects that I have been planning.

SHELTERING MANGO TREE

I have been in awe of all the wonderful cards and projects being created using the Sheltering Tree stamp set, from the Occasions Catalogue.

For a while I wasn’t sure how I wanted to play with it.

As I looked at all the Autumn/Fall inspired ideas, I was drawn to the palette of orange … Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Tangelo Twist and sort of, Calypso Coral.

Then I had my ‘aha’ moment …. mangoes.

For those of us lucky enough to live in Queensland, we know that mangoes are out and about … and if you like them, you have had mango juices running down your chin and hands. (If you live in the Northern Hemisphere – you are not yet ready for cold, refreshing summer fruits!).

If you’re unlucky enough, they are falling off a neighbour’s tree and getting very, very ripe in this hot and steamy weather.

So … here is my take on Sheltering Tree …

P.S. This card was photographed on some Pumpkin Pie cardstock … it’s really not that ‘orange’.
