KIMONO & TEMPLE

Rob and I have not visited Japan, yet.

My daughter, Kate, was fortunate enough to be selected as one of several Australian students through the JENESYS Programme (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) and spent three weeks exploring Japan, when she was in Year 11. Some of that time was spent with a host family – she went to school with her ‘sister’ and enjoyed many aspects of life in Japan with her family, in their traditionally styled home. Her host mother gave her a kimono, wrapped in a traditional cloth and paper package, to bring home for me.

As you can imagine, when I saw this Sale-a-bration stamp set, I knew I would choose it.

I wanted to create a peaceful and elegant card that reflected traditional Japanese life – kimono, temple, lantern and bonsai.

Although I have no calligraphy skills, I thought water colouring would suffice.

So, after yesterday’s Z fold card, I decided to do a variation of one for this card.

I used post it notes to cover areas of the temple stamp, inked up, removed the notes and stamped … resulting in my bonsai pot.

Again, I used only three colours: Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile and Shaded Spruce, as well as Memento Black.

A touch of Clear Wink of Stella added a little sparkle.

Thanks for dropping by … happy stamping.

mmm … Michele

These are the products I used to create this card. If you live in Australia, you can order through me.
