Yesterday, I shared some cards I made to welcome little ones into the world, because I didn’t have many made for my market stall.
At the other end of the life cycle, I also have very few sympathy cards. So, today I thought I would make a couple to add to my ‘thinking of you’ basket.
I used three different stamp sets – COMFORT & HOPE, LOYAL LEAVES and PEACEFUL MOMENTS.
The colours I chose are subdued and peaceful – EARLY ESPRESSO, SOFT SEA FOAM, SOFT SUEDE and VERY VANILLA.
The sentiment is not an obvious ‘sympathy’ one but I like that it offers hope to the recipient and an opportunity for the person giving it to offer a message of hope.
I chose not to use any floral stamps because there are times when the card needs to be masculine. Both of these cards use simple stamping techniques and a little die cutting.
I love the leaves in the LOVELY LEAVES STAMP SET and they are a great alternative for flowers.
Then I had to decide what to pop under the die cut sentiment – ribbon or strips of cardstock. I could have coloured a length of lightly coloured ribbon but decided to use up some scraps of Soft Sea Foam card.
I like to make sure I have some lovely sympathy cards on hand (and for the markets) but I hope that I don’t need to make any more, any time soon.
When it is time to give someone a sympathy card, I also give the bereaved a plant (usually rosemary – ‘for remembrance’) rather than flowers. What do you do?
Thanks for popping by … special stamping.
These are the products I used to make these cards. If you live in Australia, I would be very happy to help you with your order.
