When I saw this week’s Global Design Project Challenge I knew immediately which products I would use.
This week it is a CASEing the card challenge. The card is from GPD German team member Madeleine Mrotzek. It is a such a gorgeous card with an interesting layout.
The idea behind a CASE challenge is that you can take what you like from the design of someone else’s project and make it your own. It might be the stamp set – the colors, the layout, the theme, the images – whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.
For my project I used a similar layout but a mirror image of it. I also wanted to add colour and die cutting to those corners and keep a floral focus.
For the cut corners I used the Poppy Moments Dies and cut away the multiple poppy shapes.
Then I water coloured two pieces of Shimmery White card. One was adhered with the die cut layer over it. The second piece was used to cut the poppy overlays. The colouring was deliberately uneven in appearance.
Using some of the Poppy Parade ink and a Water Painter I flicked the die cut layer and some extra Basic White card to achieve the speckled effect.
The speckled flower bases were cut using the Poppy Moments Dies, as were the water coloured poppy overlays. I also cut some Garden Green water coloured leaves and Basic Black filament stamens. The stamens had Clear Wink of Stellar brushed across them and the leaves were popped in under the assembled flowers.
The greeting is from the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set and was stamped in Poppy Parade before being trimmed down as you can see. Two small pieces of Black & White Gingham Ribbon were tucked under the ‘sending’ layer.
The poppy outline image was stamped on the card insert and envelope.
The last step for this card was to add some Matte Black Dots to the front of the card.
I am so pleased with the way this card looks and am looking forward to sharing it on the Global Design Project web page. Make sure that pop over and see what projects the team made CASEing Madeleine’s card. Over the next week you can also see what other card makers share.
Make sure you leave me a comment to tell me what you think of my CASE.
Until next time, happy stamping.
