CUSTOM CARD

I posted this card last week but want to share it again for the Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop. The theme this week is Masculine Birthday and think this one is perfect. I hope you don’t mind seeing it again.

My daughter asked me to make a birthday card for one of her neighbours. When I asked her to tell me something about him, she said that he makes jam – especially rosella jam.

Rosellas - edibles for your garden | PLANTS WHITSUNDAY
The fruit from the rosella plant can be used to make jam.

With that information I decided to use the What’s Cooking and Measure of Love Stamp Sets. I laso used some of the retired Well Suited Designer Series Paper because it is perfect for masculine cards.

The fornt of the easel card has Night of Navy scales weighing some ‘rosellas’ and a knife and spoon for preparation. I stamped these on Gray Granite card using Smoky Slate ink.

I fussy cut the scales and cut the utensils using the Cookin’ Dies.

The birthday greeting, from the Biggest Wish Stamp Set, was trimmed and fussy cut. Then all of these elements were placed on the front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The front is lifted up and tucked in under the saucepans to create the easel card.

I added some Foam Adhesive Sheets behind a piece of Night of Navy card and cut the letters using the Playful Alphabet Dies. I’m thinking of printing jammin’ on a piece of Basic White card, trimming that down and popping just ablove the word ‘in’. What do you thing?

The back of the card has a Basic White panel for writing a message. It also has the three chef’s hats image stamped. I added the same image to the envelope.

My daughter also said that Ken’s grandson often joins him for his jam making sessions. I hope Ken likes his custom made birthday card.

I didn’t add any embellishments to the card but did paint a little Clear Wink of Stella on the utensils.

I make lots of birthday cards but really enjoy making them for a particular person so that I can customise it – it’s more special when the card matches the person.

Now make sure that hop across to see what the rest of the team has created:

Until next time, happy stamping.

SPINNER, SPINNER … WHAT’S FOR DINNER?

Hello to those of you who have popped by today. I always love to see the countries that you come from – this shows in my WordPress reports each day.

I would love you to leave a comment and tell me where you’re from – more than just the country. The reason, I invite you to do this, is because my husband and I love to travel and I enjoy discovering new places. Who knows, one day we might meet and craft together.

For today’s project I chose the What’s Cookin’ Bundle. As soon as I saw this bundle, in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue, I knew it would be on my wishlist. I have always loved cooking and was a Home Economics teacher for most of my 35 years of teaching. (P.S. I also really loved sewing and textiles and everything Home Ec related).

I also wanted to use the Give It a Whirl Dies to have some fun. I began by cutting the key components of the ‘whirl’ mechanism. This allowed me to position the stitched rectangle shape for the top layer. Then I was able to make some faint pencil outlines on the spinning circle to be able to stamp the three elements that you see when the scalloped spinner: ‘Happiness is Homemade’, ‘What’s Cookin’?’, and the three chefs’ toques.

After the three elements were stamped, I went on to the front panel. I used my Stamparatus to carefully position the mixing bowl so that I could step stamp five bowls. I used Soft Sea Foam to stamp the bowls.

I stamped and fussy cut four of the utensils to position onto the upper layer – using Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Gray Granite. The egg lifter was cut, from Basic Gray cardstock, using the lifter from the Cookin’ Dies. Before adhering this top layer, using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I stamped the saucepans image around the outer edges of the card front. This allowed sufficient space for the turning mechanism to work effectively.

I stamped the chef toques onto the card insert and envelope front.

This is what the collection, of most of the products I used for this project, looks like. I was so excited to see brads return to our catalogue. The Round & Square Brads, in black and white, will be so incredibly useful!

What do you think of my SPINNER, SPINNER … WHAT’S FOR DINNER? card? I am very pleased with my first adventure with this bundle and am starting to think of other ways to use it.
