IT IS A FINE DAY FOR A FUN FOLD CARD THIS FRIDAY

Fun Fold Friday is one of my favourite days of the week.

This week I have an origami inspired card. I found a sample of a simple miura fold card made by Lisa Brown back in 2020 – thanks Lisa.

This is the last project using my own ‘bundle’ for the week. The card features three panels with triangular folds. There is a 1″ wide belly band that holds the card in place.

I used the large stitched square die, from the Stylish Shapes Dies, to cut out the greeting so that I could add it to belly band.

I used a piece of 11-1/4″x 4-1/4″” Pool Party cardsock. Along the longer side, I scored it at 3-3/4″ and 7-1/2″.

For the triangular score lines, I measured in 1-7/8″ along the score lines and added a pencil mark (from the top on the left hand side and from the bottom on the right hand side). Then I scored from those pencil marks to the top and bottom edges. Then after some burnishing the triangles fold away perfectly.

I made a second card base so that I could create some templates in order to accurately cut the DSP panels.

Then I cut some of the ‘fan’ images from the DSP using one of the stitched circle dies in the Stylish Shapes Dies and added them to the card.

I really enjoyed making this card. Now’ it’s time to find some more origami inspiration for future projects.

Tomorrow is Saturday and time to introduce the products I will be featuring for the week. Make sure you pop by to check out what I have chosen.

Until then, happy stamping.

TRY THIS TUESDAY TECHNIQUE TODAY

Today I have a quilt inspired technique to share with you. It is a simple variation of a Quilt Technique.

I cut 1″ strips of 4 different designs from the Design a Daydream 12″x 12″ DSP and adhered them onto a piece of 5-5/8″x 4″ Old Olive cardstock leaving a thin gap between each piece.

The longer pieces were laid down first, leaving small areas at each end. These areas were then filled with the DSP running at a 90 degree angle.

The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive and cut using one of the Stylish Shapes Dies. There are four banner dies in this set to choose from.

I used the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend pen to colour the White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon before creating the triple bow.

The final step was to colour some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the same alcolhol ink pen.

Tomorrow is the day I share any challenge or blog hop projects with you. It will be a Global Design Project share tomorrow, so visit me to see what I created.

Until then, happy stamping.

MEMORIES ON A MONDAY

Each Monday I aim to share a scrapbook layout with you. I have missed a couple but am back on track today with this one.

I have chosen to ‘bundle’ the Big Hooray Stamp Set and the Design a Daydream 12″x 12″ Designer Series Paper. A few die sets will also be used throughout the week.

Look what we have back! Stampin’ Up!® have introduced an Embossing Additions Tool Kit. The small Powder Pal tray is a welcome return, as is the Embossing Buddy™. There is now a pair of Crafting Scissors and a Crafting Brush.

To be honest, I have no idea what photos I am going to place on this page but I am confident that these papers, greeting and layout will suit loads of different occasions.

I used one of the circles from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut out several ‘fans’ from one of the pieces of DSP.

So the new Embossing Kit came in handy for heat embossing the greeting. I used the white powder from the Basics Stampin’ Emboss™ Powders which looks great on the Blackberry Bliss cardstock.

Hooray – another MEmories on Mnday completed.

Tomorrow I have a new Technique Tuesday project to share.

Until then, happy stamping.
