MAKING SURE THAT MEMORIES ARE RECORDED

Monday is my day for scrapbooking. When I decided to use the All Together Collection this week, I knew that I wanted to scrap a page showing Kate and James together.

The stamp and coordinating die that has a pair of hands creating a heart is what I wanter to feature.

The occasion was James’ 30th birthday and Kate did a lot to help organise the party. She was so delighted when she found a beer stein birthday cake.

This is a very simple layout using layers of cardstock and All Together 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper, with one photo the focus.

I stamped and cut three pairs of heart hands. The Real Red cardstock filled the heart shape.

The sentiment, from the Here Together Stamp Set, was stamped in Real Red and punched out using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch. Three more shapes were punched from Real Red cardstock.

Half inch, three quarter inch and one inch strips of DSP were cut. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to shape the ends of the paper strips. These were then positioned on the back of the Real Red layer.

Leaves and hearts were coloured using the Dark Real Red and Dark Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends. These colours match Kate’s dirndl very nicely.

I’m looking forward to showing Kate this scrapbook page. It will certainly help us remember a fun afternoon.

Tomorrow is Technique Tuesday. I have the easiest technique to use on black and white Designer Series Paper.

Until then, happy stamping.

MONDAY MEMORIES – TIME TO SHARE A SCRAPBOOK PAGE

My weekly crafting schedule has Monday set aside for memory keeping. It’s the day for turning a 12″x 12″ page into a scrapbook page or pages.

As I am using the Waves of the Ocean Collection, I knew that I needed to scrap some Bell’s Beach photos. As a family, we have visited Bell’s Beach a couple of times.

I started this layout by choosing Bermuda Bay as the base colour.

For the main photo (centre) I created a piece of vellum coloured with Stampin’ Blends and rubbing alcohol. To do this I used Dark Bermuda Bay and Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends and coloured connecting spots before using an eye dropper to drop the alcohol. I cut the vellum and a piece of Night of Navy Foil to make the matte layer the photo is attached to.

After all three photos were positioned on the page, I went on to cut, layer and attach the waves.

The pelicons were cut from a piece of Mother of Pearl 12″x 12″ Specialty Paper. The two pelicans in the top and middle positions each have another die cut pelican underneath – the top one was cut from a piece of Bermuda Bay Foil and the middle one was cut from a piece of the alcohol coloured vellum.

Using the same Mother of Pearl paper, I cut the title for this page with the Playful Alphabet Dies. The Adhesive Sheets that I placed behind the paper made it very easy to attach the title.

After cutting the seagulls, I added them making them fly across the page.

The shimmer on the Mother of Pearl Specialty Paper is so stunning.

Placing this pelican in the corner of this photo added a great finishing touch.

I didn’t put the Playful Alphabets Dies in this photo – if you could see my craft room at the moment, you would understand why I couldn’t find them.

Tomorrow is Technique Tuesday and I have two to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping.

MONDAY MEANS THAT IT’S TIME TO SHARE MORE MEMORIES

Scarpbooking has a very long history, dating back as far to the 15th century. It was about keeping and recording memories – letters, poems, recipes, scrapbook quotes and similar items were kept in the commonplace books. Friendship albums were typically used when company was invited to a home.

There is also a long history in the development of photography. George Eastman was an early developer of film and accessible cameras. During the 20th century, photography became readily available to the public. Now, I can take great photos using my phone and print directly to a WiFi photo printer – just like I did today for this memory keeping page.

This week I am featuring Sam Hammond’s Sentimental Swirls Stamp Set that was designed for her 1000000 Sales Achiever achievement.

I used the stamp set to create a botanical 12″x 12″ background for the photos I chose for today. The photos were taken in November 2019, when Rob & I spent the last few days of a two month overseas holiday in Singapore. On this occasion we spent the day at Gardens by the Bay.

For the background images I used Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Rich Razzleberry inks. THe photos were matted onto Garden Green and Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

For this week’s scrapbook page, I decided to type my journaling and print it out on Basic White cardstaock. I printed the text in Garden Green (RGB – 064,130,071). I trimmed down the titles and journaling text before matting it on Garden Green cardstock.

This page is a great way to show that you don’t need hundreds of products to create a great scrapbook page.

Tomorrow it Technique Tuesday and I have a heat embossed, Triple Time Stamping Technique card to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping.
