GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #422 – SKETCH CHALLENGE

It has been almost a month since my last post. It’s definitley time to start picking up my act.

This week’s Global Design Project is a Sketch Challenge. When I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

If you click on the image below, you will be redirceted to the GDP website where you can see the Design Team’s amazing projects and all the entries submitted by fellow paper crafters.

I definitely wanted to create a bespoke Christmas card using the Joy of Noel Dies, Joyful Specialty Designer Series Paper and Distressed Gold 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper.

This card measures 6″ x 6″, to accommodate the size of the NOEL die and paper layering.

I started bu cutting four 2-1/2″ squares from the Distressed Gold paper. Three of them were die cut with the NOEL Joy of Noel Dies.

The task then was to decide the measurements for each underlying layer – 5-3/4″ square of the music score paper, 5-7/8″ square of Distressed Gold paper and 12″ x 6″ Cherry Cobbler card base.

Then I adhered the 2-1/2″ Distressed Gold squares onto the music sheet. I ensured each of these squares were spaced evenly around the edges and between each other a 1/4″.

Then all the layers were adhered together.

The next step was to cut four Cherry Cobbler and five Distressed Gold leaves. These were adhered to the gold square (bottom left-hand corner) to create a wreath.

A length of gold ribbon, from the Gold & Silver Trim bundle, was tied into a tiny bow and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot.

I used the same die to cut NOEL into the card insert.

The final touch was to add some gold Blooming Pearls and some red adhesive backed sequins (retired) to the centre of the wreath.

I will add some details about ordering these products a little later.

Until then, happy stamping.

TIME FOR ANOTHER GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT CHALLENGE

This week’s #GDP412 is a CASE challenge. The source of inspiration for this challenge is a card created by WIlma de Korte, one of the talented GDP team members from the Netherlands.

HINT – CASE = Copy And Selectively Edi

Each time there is a CASE challenge we are reminded that we can take what we like from the design and make it our own. It might be the stamp set – the colors, the layout, the theme, the images – whatever we like that has inspired us to make a card of our own.

Here is the project this week that we can CASE this week:

I decided to turn the layout around to create a portrait tent card and chose a Christmas suite collection for my CASE submission.

I featured the Joy of Christmas Suite Collection for this CASE project.

The Pecan Pie cardbase was where I started. Then I cut two pieces of Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper for the angled layers under the Basic White top layer.

The Basic White layer had holly leaves stamped in Shaded Spruce. I adhered it to the card front, also at an angle.

I stamped some holly leaves, in Shaded Spruce, on to Shaded Spruce cardstock. Then I die cut them. I also die cut two other leaf shapes, several times, in Vellum.

The leaves were then layered and adhered together. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the layered leaves and placed them on the card front.

The seasonal greeting was stamped with Versamark before I sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder across it. After the powder was heat set I cut the greeting and added it to the card front.I tied a bow using the gold trim from the Simply Elegant Trim duo and placed it on the leaf bundle.

I stamped some holly leaves on the card insert and back of the envelope.

Finally, I added some embellishments from the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins pack.

In the coming days I have lots of projects using the Merry, Bold & Bright Suite Collection to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping.

TIME TO START SHARING SOME CHRISTMAS CARDS

Originally, I had wanted to post this card for the Global Design Project #408. This challenge was a CASE challenge.

I decided to feature the Joy of Christmas Suite Collection for this project.

I started by choosing the Designer Series Papers that I wanted to use for this project. One came from the Joy of Christmas 12″ x 12″ DSP and the other from the Joyful 12″ x 12″ Specialty DSP.

For these DSP designs, I chose Cherry Cobbler for the card base and Shaded Spruce for the matte layer.

The Specialty DSP was cut using a die from the Christmas Classics Dies. Then I used the Noel die, from the Joy of Noel Dies, to cut several pieces of gold foil. Each piece of gold foil had some Adhesive Sheet attached so that each letter could be layered to create height.

The ‘noel’ gold letters were then positioned inside the square space of the specialty DSP.

I added a strip of the DSP inside the card and covered the envelope flap as well.

To finish this project, I added some gold sequins from the Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins to the card.

Now I’m off to plan a new project to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping.

Because some of the products I have used to make this card are not yet available to customers, I am not able to show them at this time. As soon as product images go live, I will create this section.
