I have been asked by a couple of people to post the instructions for the Botanical Gardens Winged Gift Box that was posted a little while ago …
Those coming along to my February Stampin’ Time class will be making this gift box as well as a greeting card and gift tag.
So … if you can’t make it along, you can still make the gift box. It has hinged cover panels that open out like wings … to reveal whatever treasure you place inside.
This was inspired by the Winged Gift Box posted on Youtube by Elizabeth from Crafts by Happy Stamper … thank you Elizabeth for sharing this.
Supplies needed:
# colour error – I used Delightful Dijon rather than Hello Honey
Project Recipe:
- Cut:
* one 8 1/4 by 8 1/4 piece of Basic Black card
* two 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 pieces of Basic Black card and
* three 2 58 by 2 5/8 pieces of Botanical Gardens DSP - Take the large Basic Black card square and score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2.
Turn the card 90 degrees and repeat the scorelines.
Take a bone folder and burnish the scorelines. - Cut each of the four sides as shown in the sketched outline below ….
Use tear and tape adhesive or other strong adhesive to assemble the gift box base. - Take the two 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 Basic Black card pieces and score at 2 3/4 twice to create four segments.
Take a bone folder and burnish the scorelines.
Trim three sides back and score the fourth, as shown below – image with DSP triangles. - Cut along one the bottom right hand crease line, as shown in the same image.
- Take the three square DSP pieces and cut in half diagonally. Adhere three of the DSP triangles to each of the black winged bases, as shown before.
- Use a strong adhesive, such as Tombow, to secure the triangle without DSP to create the hinged top piece, see the pencil instruction in the last image.
- Using a strong adhesive, attach the winged top pieces to the gift box base.
- Attach the ribbon securely to the base of the gift box and secure under the flowers.
[An optional 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 piece of basic black card can be adhered to the base of the gift box to ensure a very secure attachment of the ribbon.] - Using scraps of the coloured card stock, found in the supplies list, to stamp, cut and sponge the leaves and flowers illustrated.
Adhere securely with glue dots and/or adhesive.
Attach basic black candy dots and white perfect accents to the centres of the flowers. - Using the Botanical Gardens Designer Washi Tape cover the edges of the winged hinge and trim.
