A CHRISTMAS THEMED CARD FOR #GDP319

This is the last Global Design Project card I will be sharing for 2021. Next week Rob and I are off to Tasmania for a couple of weeks and then, a few days after we return, we will be heading to Noosa for an extended family Christmas.

This week’s theme is –

I decided to go right to the middle and choose Christmas trees as my inspiration.

I used the Stitched Triangle Dies to cut lots of gray and silver trees from a variety of papers – Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper, Black Glitter Paper, Hydrangea Hill Mercury Glass Designer Acetate and a small scrap of retired Silver Foil.

After choosing a Basic Gray card base, I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.

I layered the tree triangles across the card front using Multipurpose Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to create height and depth.

The silver star was cut using the Stockings Dies.

I love the way the silver foil and acetate reflect light and make the card shine.

I added a tree to the card insert and envelope to tie all the elements together.

There is no extra bling on the card – all the silver is more than enough.

The greeting, “this wondrous season”, is from the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set and was stamped in Basic Gray onto a piece of Peaceful Place Specialty DSP. It was trimmed down and then layered across the trees at the bottom of the card.

I’m looking forward to rejoining the Global Design Project challenges next year.

Until next time, happy stamping.

GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #311

This week’s Global Design Project #311 challenge is a theme challenge.

I enjoy taking part in blog hops and challenges because it encourages me to create outside my comfort zone.

When I saw that this week’s theme was leaves I started to scan my shelves to see which stamp set, dies and other products I might use. Well, that took some time because there are so many to choose from!

Eventually, I decided on the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle.

I started by carefully tearing a length of Post-It Cover-up Tape to position on a piece of Basic White card. Then, using a Blending Brush, I coloured the space with four different yellows – Crushed /curry, Mango Melody, Bumblebee and Pumpkin Pie.

After I pulled away the Post-It tape I stamped the small cluster of three leaves, in Memento Jet Black, across this curved yellow panel.

Then I flicked the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend to create the speckled flecks on the Basic White panel.

I wrapped some Basic Black Baker’s Twine, from the Essentials Pack, around this panel and tied a bow.

The second layer, in Basic Black, was given texture by using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.

The Basic Black embossed panel was popped up on the Crushed Curry card base using Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the Basic White layer was popped up in the same way.

The leaves were cut using the Intricate Leaves Dies and were coloured, on the under side, using Doaffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends. I layered the leaves and secured them using Mini Glue Dots. Then I tucked them in under the Basic Black Baker’s Twine.

The greeting, from the Inspired Thoughts Stamped Set, was heat embossed in Basic White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black card. Then I cut it using the label die from Pretty Pillow Box Dies.

I used the small cluster of three leaves image to stamp the card insert and envelope. Finally, I added some Matte Black Dots to the card front.

It is always wonderful to take part in a challenge and then use lots of Stampin’ Up!® products to create a project.

So, let me know what you think of my latest GDP project.

Thanks for popping by and until next time, happy stamping.

GROWING GARDEN

Hello and welcome. Thank you for popping by to check out today’s project.

Today I’m sharing my project for this week’s Global Design Project theme challenge – #GDP295.

For this project I decided to use the new Batik Boutique Bundle.

BATIK BOUTIQUE BUNDLE

I love these stylised flowers and leaves. They are going to loads of fun to create with.

After choosing the stamp set and dies, I chose colours to coordinate with the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I wanted to make a split front card and have the flowers growing up through the opening.

In keeping with the theme – flowers need water to grow, so I used the Water Painters to help these flowers ‘grow’. I stamped the flowers onto Shimmery White cardstock, using Jet Black StazOn.

After the flowers were dry, I cut them using the coordinating Batik Dies and then added some Clear Wink of Stella. For the split front layer, I cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock measuring 5-3/4″x 4-1/4″. Then I stamped two images from the Batik Boutique Stamp Set onto that piece of cardstock using the same colour ink. Then I placed a tick mark 1″ in from the top left corner along the top and down the left side. I used these marks and the bottom right hand corner to line up along the paper trimmer.

The next step was to position the flowers evenly along each side and secure them in place. The two triangular pieces were then glued into place and the floweres interwined. After gently shaping the flowers and leaves, each flower had a Stampin’ Dimensional placed behind it so that it would stay lifted. I stamped the same floral image inside the card and onto the envelope.

The sentiment comes from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set and this layer was cut using one of the Tasteful Label Dies. The finishing touch was to add the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

So, what do you think of my growing garden? I’m not sure if I would have thought of this card design if it wasn’t for the GDP challenge. I am enjoying being part of a couple of blog hops and challenges each week.

Happy stamping.
