HAPPY HIPPOS

Hello! I am so pleased that you have popped by to see what I have to share with you today.

If you have been visiting fairly regualrly, you will know that I have been featuring new products from current catalogue. Today’s project uses a product that has carried over into the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.

Let me share the background story first.

While my daughters encourage my paper crafting and lovingly ‘tolerate’ my endlessly showing them the projects I have made, they surprise me from time to time. They do actually understand what I do and often keep an eye open for something that I could use for a project.

Recently, my eldest daughter visited and gave me a chocolate she had found that she thought I would like to make a gift box for – she was spot on! She found a Kinder Happy Hippo.

I immediately thought of Robyn Cardon’s Hippo Happiness Stamp Set, created for her Million Achievement Milestone.

There definitely needs to be more than just one chocolate in a gift box, so I went in search of them. I found a five pack in my local supermarket – now we’re talkiing.

So it was time to design a box to pop three of them into.

I took three of the chocolates and did some measuring and sketching on my Gridpaper to create the layout for this flip top box. The box was made using a 12″x 8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Before I assembled the box, I cut Balmy Blue cardstock and DSP from the Subtles 6″x 6″ DSP to adhere to each of the box panels.

The front panels were shaped using one of the Basic Borders Dies. Once attached, I assembled the gift box and the Happy Hippos were a perfect fit.

Then I cut the label for the front of the box using one of the Hippo & Friends Dies. The greeting was stamped in Balmy Blue ink onto this panel. Three balloons were also stamped, using Balmy Blue, Blushing Bride and So Saffron. The balloon ribbons were stamped using Smoky Slate. The birthday greeting was stamped, and cut using the long banner from the Bloom Dies (Bloom Hybrid). I repositioned the die to shorten the length of the banner.

With the lid closed, I postioned the large Basic White panel to secure the lid in place. The bottom half of the panel had Stampin’ Dimensionals to ensure it had enough height to allow the lid to tuck under the it. The birthday banner was popped up, using Stampin’ Dimensionals also, in the top right-hand corner of the lid.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the three Hippos for the front of the gift box. They were then die cut and positioned on the front greeting panel. Clear Wink of Stella was used to add some glimmer to the balloons and hippos. Finally, I added some Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems for some extra bling.

This is such a cute little gift box to give to someone who loves hippopotami (hippopotauses). Who would you give this to?

Happy stamping.

PEACHY KEEN

Hello and welcome. If you’re new to my blog, I am so pleased that you have popped by. If you’ve popped by before, I appreciate that you have returned.

I am slowly catching up on my crafting and posts – and, hope to be ‘on time’ very soon (I try to schedule my posts at 9am each day).

Over the next few days I plan to share projects using the You’re a Peach Suite Collection.

YOU'RE A PEACH SUITE COLLECTION (ENGLISH)

For this project, I was inspired by my daughters’ love of Peach Iced Tea. So, I went looking for something that I could make a gift box for. Thank goodness for T2 products – I found their Packs a Peach tea bags. Now I must admit I thought the packaging wasn’t awful, but I also knew that I could create something just a little more special. The teabags are in super-cute triangular bags and there are 10 bags in the packet.

The box they come in is larger than the box I made.

I chose three core colours, that coordinate with the You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper, for this gift box – Calypus Coral, Pale Papaya and Pear Pizzazz. Then I added some Basic White and White Vellum. The gift box base measured 9-3/8″x 8-3/4″ and was scored in at 3″ along all four sides. The lid measured 8-3/8″x 7-3/4″ and was scored at 2-5/16″ along all four sides – this ensures the lid is just a little larger than the base so that it fits over the base easily.

The DSP for the lid was cut 2-1/4″ high for all four panels and then 3-1/4″ for the front and back and 2-5/8″ for each of the sides. The DSP for the base was cut 2-7/8″ high for all four panels and then 3-1/4″ for the front and back and 2-5/8″ for each of the sides.

I used one of the Scalloped Contour Dies to cut Pear Pizzazz and White Vellum layers for the box top. The die was too wide for the top but I was able to reposition the die to make the finished layer narrower. The Pear Pizzazz layer was then stamped with the leaves and stems image from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set. A few drops of Multipurpose Glue were placed on this layer before the vellum was attached. The glue was hidden as soon as the peaches and flowers were adhered onto the vellum, using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flowers and peaches were stamped using both Calypso Coral (stamped off) and Pale Papaya. I cut five double leaves in Pear Pizzazz and attached them with Mini Glue Dots.

The sentiments were stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral. The ‘Thanks for being as’ was cut using a die from from the Peach Dies and the ‘sweet as a peach’ was cut using one of the Scalloped Contours Dies. The final touches included adding Clear Wink of Stella onto the peaches and flowers, and then adding some of the Pale Papaya 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels.

These are some of the products I used for this gift box. Which ones do you have on your wishlist?

Who would you give this peach tea gift box to?

Happy stamping.

FACEBOOK FUN

Hello! Thank you for popping by. I’m a little late posting this morning.

Tomorrow is my weekly Facebook Live on https://www.facebook.com/mmmstampintime, at 9am (AEST). I hope that you have time to watch me live or on replay.

I thought that I would share the projects I am planning to make tomorrow.

I decided to focus on the Love You Always Suite because one of the stamp set/dies bundles is retiring and the other is carrying over into the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.

The Forever & Always Bundle, as well as the True Love Designer Series Paper are retiring. So, if this is still on your wishlist be quick to order it while it is still available.

$79 AUD

And, Stampin’ Emboss Powders are also retiring, in their single colour packaging. They will be available as two different three packs – more information soon.

I am trying to use up the retiring ribbons quickly, so the Real Red Sheer Ribbon made its way onto this card.

The layout of this card is uncomplicated – layers of card stock and DSP, a ribbon and bow tied around the layers, stamped and die cut greeting and heat embossed and die cut flowers. Simple yet elegant, don’t you agree?

The sentiment stamp, on the card insert, actually reads “you so very much”. It is very easy to just ink up the last three words to be able to have the total greeting read ‘Love you so very much’. I also stamped the smaller floral image, using Real Red, on both the card insert and envelope.

The other project, I plan to make tomorrow, is an impossible box. It was inspired by the ones that Julie Dimatteo and Sam Colcott make.

The one I will make tomorrow will use card stock rather than DSP. The DSP is perfect for smaller boxes but I think larger boxes need more stability.

The great thing about using DSP is that when you turn down the top one inch piece, the box features the other side of the paper.

The closing mechanism of this box is so clever – I have no idea who was the first to create this box, but they are so talented.

When you press down on the lid it just folds in and closes right up.

While I cannot take any credit for this box design, I can share the instructions I have drawn up. I hope you have fun making your own.

See you tomorrow, Live.

Happy stamping.
