FRESHLY BREWED PROJECT

Hello and welcome! Thanks for popping by for another Wednesday Freshly Brewed Project.

Our theme this week is FINE ART FLORAL. It’s been a little while since I’ve used this suite.

May be an image of coffee cup and text that says 'Freshly Brewed PROJEGTS'

I have seen quite a few cards recently using some interesting closure techniques. One of them used a butterfly that folds in half and slides through a narrower slit on the card front. (I am sorry that I didn’t write down the name of the crafter who shared it.)

For the closure on this joy fold card, I stamped one of the flower images from the Art Gallery Stamp Set onto a piece of Fine Art Floral DSP. Then I fussy cut the flower. The space the flower slides through was made using the Label Me Fancy Punch.

I’m not sure about the top panel yet. It is difficult to see from the photo but this layer has six different strips of washi tape. I made the washi tape! Sara Douglass, CEO of Stampin’ Up!®, shared a Facebook Live ast week showing how to make your own washi tape. Woohoo – I have missed washi. Here is how to make it – cut a piece of Adhesive Sheet to 6″x 6″ and a piece of tissue paper to the same size. Pull the backing from the adhesive sheet slowly away from one corner and align the the tissue paper then press it down. Continue to pull back the backing and attach the tissue paper. Then I stamped the images, from the Art Gallery Stamp Set, in coordinating colours. The stripes were created by drawing lines using Stampin’ Blends.

TIP: Make sure you give the inks time to dry or they will smudge.

When it was dry I cut the strips into the different widths. Then I pulled off the backing from the adhesive sheet and placed it on the Basic White layer.

When I released the closure, the flower sits nicely amongst the flowers on the DSP.

There is heaps of space inside the card to write a heartfelt birthday greeting.

Another birthday card to pop in the box – you can never have too many on hand.

Now, make sure you pop over and see what the other Freshly Brewed Projects are:

Happy stamping.

OH, BABY!

Hello and welcome to another Wednesday Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop. Thank you for joining me, and the other wonderful Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators taking part.

This week’s theme is Oh, Baby – so we will be sharing ideas for baby cards.

For this weekly hop, I decided to use the Baby Pull Toys Stamp Set. It seemed to be the perfect stamp set to use to make a sideways waterfall card, so that the toys can be pulled along.

The first thing I did was to prepare the waterfall mechanism. Then I stamped, coloured and die cut the images and sentiment.

I assembled the waterfall component of the card then I cut two 2″ strips of Balmy Blue card stock and used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch to create the pull tag. I added some star images and tied some Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon through the end of the tag.

For the front of the card, I used a Blending Brush and one of the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks to create the polka dot design on the card stock.

Now, I couldn’t just make a blue card – so, here’s a pink one.

Same process, just some colour changes. If you would like to see how I made these cards, click on the image below and you can watch today’s Facebook Live. I make a third card, in Mint Macaron.

I think that I will make another one, during my Facebook Live, using either So Saffron or Mint Macaron. That way I will have three options available – baby boy, baby girl or baby gender yet to be revealed.

I can’t wait to see what the other blog hoppers have created. Make sure you pop across to see what the others have created:

There are two new stamp sets in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue that are perfect for baby cards. I can’t wait to share them with you.

So until then, happy stamping.

SKETCH CHALLENGE

Hello and welcome to another Wednesday Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop. Thank you for joining me, and the other wonderful Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators taking part.

May be an image of food, coffee cup and text that says 'Freshly Brewed PROJEGTS'

This week’s theme is a SKETCH CHALLENGE. The sketch comes from Pagemaps.com – #bfpsketch121 #cardmaps

This is the first Sketch Challenge I have ever done. This is such a terrific layout for using yp scraps.

I dusted off my PLAYFUL PETS SUITE for this project.

The sketch looks like it has washi tape strips. I decided to ‘replace’ the washi tape with a strip of vellum, a fussy cut cat and a dangling bone.

Phew – there were eight different designs, amongst the PLAYFUL PETS DSP, that I could use to match the sketch.

Although I am not a cat ‘person’, I do find this sinister cat adorable. Fortunately the mice are well out of reach.

To switch things up a bit, I thought that I would make a second card in portrait style.

Oops – I didn’t even notice the Dimensional backing had drifted onto the card!

I used the DSP strips in the same order but in different widths. Then I fussy cut cat and dogs to pop onto the card front, instead of washi tape. I gave the centre dog a cute bow.

For the card insert and envelope, I used a few more strips of DSP to finish off the project.

Make sure you pop acroos to see what the others have created:

I’m rather chuffed with the way the cards turned out. I have from now until April 1st to make sure that I have used every stamp set and coordinating product in my collection – my goal before I will ‘let’ myself place a preorder from the new 2021-2022 ANNUAL CATALOGUE.

How many stamp sets do have that you have not used yet?

Happy stamping.
