TIME FOR A LITTLE SCROOGE

It never ceases to surprise me where I can find ‘inspiration’ for my crafting projects.

For this project, I found a pack of aniseed flavoured lollies (candy).

Woolworths Select Humbugs

And, when you see the word HUMBUG what else would you do? Buy the pack and make a Ebenezer Scrooge inspired gift – perfect for Secret Santa, if Santa thinks Christmas is a fraud, perhaps.

The ROUND TINS were the perfect choice for this little treat, as is the BLACK GLITTERED ORGANDY RIBBON.

NOTE – I did try to adhere some Designer Series Paper around the side of the tin but the lid would fit back on – oops!

To be honest, I was disapponted when LETTERS FOR YOU were retired. I used them SO much. Happily, the PLAYFUL ALPHABET DIES are filling that void. Their size is better proportioned for most projects that I make, so I am pleased to have a great replacement.

Before I die cut each of the letters needed, I attached ADHESIVE SHEETS to the back of the card stock.

To coordinate with the sweets, I cut the letters from Basic Black and attached them to a 1″ wide piece of Whisper White. To create the banner, I used the BANNER PICK A PUNCH.

And, in true miserly Scrooge form, I did not add any embellishments.

This was such a fun project to make and so, so simple. I hope whoever receives this has a good laugh.

Who would you give it to? Who do know, who likes aniseed?

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.

These are the products I used to make this project. If you live in Australia, I would be very pleased to help you with your order.

GLEAMING GIFT BAGS

Last Wednesday, I watched a Facebook Live from Ronda Wade. She showed how to make her style of gift bag.

She used two 12″x 12″ sheets of DESIGNER SERIES PAPER. Both pieces are scored the same way – 1″ on one side and 3″ on the other three.

I found that if I moved the three sides just slightly away from the SIMPLY SCORED SCORING TOOL edge, this piece would slip just over the top of the other half of the gift bag. This gives a snug fit and makes it sit well when adhered.

The 1″ edge is folded so that the reverse side of the DSP shows. This is then adhered in place.

The three sides were then burnished with a bone folder. On the lower edge (opposite the edge with the 1″ folded down edge), the two 3″ crease lines that run upwards then need to be cut.

I decided to use the STAMPIN’ SEAL + because it is such a strong adhesive.

I used the GLEAMING BRIGHTLY SPECIALTY DSP for these gift bags.

I made four gift bags in the same size.

I made a coordinating gift card for each and stamped Christmas Wishes from the BANNER YEAR STAMP SET.

The sides are pressed in firmly at the top and gently folded in down the length of each side.

After these bags, I decided to start experimenting with measurements.

This slender gift box used just one sheet of DSP cut in half. The pieces were scored at 1″ on one narrow edge of each piece. The remaining sides are scored at 2″. The bag measures 2″ in both width and depth. It is 11.75″ in height.

This bag also uses just one sheet of DSP. The 1″ top edge is scored and the sides are scored at 1″. The bag measures 4″ in width, 1″ in depth and 11.75″ in height.

I’m so pleased that I caught Ronda’s Live presentation. These are going to be my go to gift bags!

The bulldog clips are not from Stampin’ Up!®. They were from a stationery store.

I’m sure that whoever buys these, at my market stall in two weeks, will find lots of perfect goodies to fill them.

CHRISTMAS TAGS

I spent the weekend working on Christmas goodies for my upcoming market stall – gift tags and bags, mainly.

It is amazing how much card stock and designer series paper I used!

Today I want to show you the gift tags I made to pop around the neck of a bottle of wine or spirits, for the grown ups on your Christmas list.

I used a full length of A4 card stock and cut them into 3″ panels. Each panel is scored at 3″ from the top and I used the wheel die from the SMOOTH SAILING DIES set. It makes a perfect hole that can open out to match most bottles.

The Christmas greeting and to/from come from the TAG BUFFET PHOTOPOLYMER STAMP SET. The BANNERS PICK A PUNCH makes the perfect banner ends.

The trees were cut out using the MOST WONDERFUL TIMES DIES.

I have made almost 20 of these so far, using the HEARTWARMING HUGS and BRIGHTLY GLEAMING SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER.

The finishing touch was topping each tree with STAR DESIGNER ELEMENTS.

Now I need to find a creative way to use all of the ship wheels that were cut out.

I hope these are popular at the market – DOCKSIDE MARKETS in Kangaroo Point, December 5th and 6th (from 7am until 1pm). If you live in Brisbane, I hope you have a chance to pop by and say hello.

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.
