FUN WITH PATTERNED PAPER

Hello and welcome! I am so delighted that you have popped by today. It is Wednesday and it is time for another Freshly Brewed Project Blog Hop.

This week’s theme is Fun with Patterned Paper. I decided to play with one of the amazing FREE Sale-a-bration Designer Series Paper packs – Penguin Playmates 12″x 12″ DSP. If you live in Australia, you can ‘earn’ this DSP pack with a minimum $90 order.

For this card, there is not a penguin in site. I used the alternate designs to create this card.

I know that I should be able to tell you the ‘right’ name for this card style, but I’m really not sure. The photos should tell you everything you need to know.

The small front panel has a layer of Misty Moonlight cardstock with several triangular pieces of the DSP radiating from the centre.

The greeting, from the In Symmetry Stamp Set, was stamped and fussy cut. Then I added trimmed Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop each word up to achieve height. The fianl touch, for this layer, was to add a few Opal Rounds.

When the smaller front layer is opened, you will find the full card front and the inside of the front flap, which can hold a gift card.

When the card front is opened, there is the card insert – a perfect place to write your message to the recipient of the gift card.

I finished the envelope with one of the die cut triangular pieces of DSP.

The sentiment, ‘Best Day Ever’, is perfect for so many different occasions. And, on those occasions, a gift card can be the perfect present.

How would you use these products? What would it look like?

Make sure that you pop by and see what the other Freshly Brewed Project team members have created:

Happy stamping.

GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #301

Hello and welcome. I am so pleased that you have decided to pop by and see my latest project.

This week’s Global Design Project is a Colour Challenge.

For this project I decided to use the Night of Navy Pastel from the new Soft Pastels Assortment to colour some Embossing Paste. I used the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool to scrape some of the pastel to make a powder.

The resulting colour was lighter than Night of Navy but still a lovely shade of blue.

The paste was then applied to a piece of Shimmery White cardstock using one of the Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks.

The blue and white panel was cut into three strips and adhered to the front of the Polished Pink card base. The two white strips were trimmed to fit neatly into the space between the blue/white panels. The greeting was stamed on the bottom white strip. The top white strip was given texture using one of the Greenery Embossing Folders. Both of these strips were added using STampin’ Dimensionals.

This mask coordinates with the In Symmetry Stamp Set. I stamped the large flower, in Polished Pink, twice before fussy cutting it and creating a full flower. THe leaves were stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut by hand. Once the flower was assembled, I cut a length of Open Weave Ribbon in half and attached loops of the ribbon on the back.

The flower was attached to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I applied Clear Wink of Stella to the outer section of the petals for some added bling.

If you’ve read my posts in the past, you will know the next comment – I stamped the floral image on the card insert and envelope. Predictable, I know.

And, of course – the fnal step was to add some of the returning Wonderful Gems to the card front.

Hmm – not bad. I’m particularly happy with how this card turned out.

What do you think?

Happy stamping.

AMAZING

Hello to each of you amazing crafters who pop by to see what I have been up to.

I hope that you will leave a comment to let me know where you are from and what you think of each project.

Today’s project is an ‘amazing’ black and white card.

I discovered a wonderful ‘little’ die in the Cloche Dies bundle and knew immediately what I wanted to use it for. The Black Glitter Paper was perfect for this card. After I attached a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the back of some glitter paper, I cut several of the pieces – as you can see. I marked some centre lines, lightly in pencil, to guide where to place the pieces evenly from the centre outward. This has achieved an amazing sense of curved movement across the front of the card.

I attached these pieces to Shimmery White cardstock to ensure a continuity of ‘bling’. The centre front panel was adhered to a panel of Black Glitter Paper and then onto the card base.

The sentiment, from the Create with Friends Stamp Set, was stamped in Versamark with Black Embossong Powder sprinkled over it. After heating the embossing powder, I fussy cut the sentiment. A few cut down Stampin’ Dimensionals ensured it could be popped up for some added height.

I decided not to add anything else to this card – I think this enough. Your thoughts?

The card insert and envelope also have the die cut piece attached.

Less is more, is often a wise approach. This card is rich without being too complex.

I would love you to share your thoughts. Who would you send this card to?

Happy stamping.
