THE BEACH BOYS

When I saw the sheet of TROPICAL OASIS DESIGNER SERIES PAPER with the beach cars, it cried the BEACH BOYS to me.

These are two of the cars that are closest to those on the DSP that I could find – and Beach Boys’ music is playing in head.

The cars were all about the wood panelling and being long enough to stow a long board on the roof racks.

For this project, I thought about my daughters and their surfing classes and experiences – so, I went for Flirty Flamingo!

I used a STITCHED RECTANGLE DIES to cut three of the cars from the DSP, featuring the car with pink colours in the centre.

Some Flirty Flamingo, Pretty Peacock and Early Espresso card stock combine for the main colours of this card.

The palm trees were stamped in Saddle Brown Staz On for the die cut and water coloured card front feature, and for the envelope.

Who feels like heading to the beach? What is your all-time favourite Beach Boys song?

Thanks for dropping by, hanging ten … happy stamping.

HAPPY HIBISCUS

The days are still warm and the nights are getting a little cooler. I’m lucky enough to look outside our apartment and see blue sky, the trees and river. The gardens in our unit complex has, among other beautiful trees, plants and flowers; hibiscus.

The TROPICAL OASIS SUITE is rich with floral and leaf images in resplendent tropical colours.

For this project, I did some borderless water colouring on some FLUID 100 WATER COLOUR PAPER. I used the Staz On Saddle Brown inkpad, stamped off onto my grid sheet and then coloured the hibiscus and leaves, using an aqua painter and inks.

I love the way embossing folders always add interesting texture to cards and the COASTAL WEAVE 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER is one of my favourites.

I am going to miss the 2018 – 2020 In Colours! The GRAPEFRUIT GROVE worked perfectly on the hibiscus. Actually, I am going to miss ALL these colours!

STAND UP CARD

I watched a Ronda Wade Facebook live two days ago and was inspired to make a card using this card fold technique.

I thought the golfer from the CLUBHOUSE STAMP SET would be perfect for the centre panel of the stand up card.

I used one of the edge dies from the ORNATE LAYERS DIES to add the Night of Navy and Poppy Parade edges at the base of the card.

With my husband’s birthday looming, I can use this card and give him the golf ball gift box – the one I posted on March 3rd.

This card didn’t stand as well as I had hoped, so I trimmed some card from the back half of the card – it stands a little shorter than I would have liked. I have since made a few adjustments to the scoring and cutting measurements and now I have the ‘template’ spot on.

That’s the thing with crafting and creativity – there are no mistakes, just creative solutions!

What has been your best creative save?

Thanks for popping by … happy stamping.
