WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEDNESDAY? #2

Each Wednesday, I will share what I have made for blog hops and challenges. This is my second project for today and it is for the Freshly Brewed Projects blog hop and this week’s theme is NOTECARDS PROJECTS.

May be an image of coffee cup and text that says 'Freshly Brewed PROJEGTS'

I could have made a gift set or just one or maybe even 2 cards to show how you can make super quick and easy projects with them. I could have teamed them up any of the current Memories & More packs. However, I decided to create a 3D project to share with you.

This week, I am featuring the Hey Sports Fan Suite Collection and decided to make something to keep sporting event memorabilia, especially ticket stubs, in.

I created a mini expanding file using five notecards.

Each notecard has two 3″x 2″ panels attached at each end. These pieces were scored at 1/2″, 1″ and 1-1/2″.

When these inserts were secure, I glued the notecards together. This gave me a five pocket, mini expanding file.

I used one more notecard to create the front flap and back panel. Before adhering it in place, I secured a length of Misty Moonlight ribbon from the Cotton Ribbon Combo Pack.

The Detailed Trio Punch was used to round the corners of the front flap.

I cut a 6″x 5″ piece of Night of Navy wood grain piece of DSP to adhere to the outside of the mini file.

I die cut some of the tickets from one of the DSP sheets and added them to the front of the file.

For inside the file, I cut five large ticket shapes using Basic White cardstock. I also cut the joined tickets in Bumblebee, Night of Navy and Poppy Parade several times. For the file inserts, I tore two of the tickets so that I could fold this segment in half and staple it to the top of the Basic White ticket. These five tickets can be used for journaling.

I used a Bumblebee and Poppy Parade ticket strip, on the front flap of the expanding file, to give the file a name – ‘Memory Holder’. The title was created by adding Adhesive Sheet to the back of the two featured colours and cutting the letters using the Playful Alphabet Dies.

I finished the project by adding some of the Resin Stars Embellishments.

This is a project that I am SOOOOO happy with. Everything turned out the way I hoped it would. What do you think? I would love your feedback. I am already thinking of some other ways to use notecards this way.

Make sure that you hop along and see what the rest of the team have created.

Tomorrow is 3D Thursday – time to start thinking about what to create.

Until then, happy stamping.

THURSDAY IS ALL ABOUT 3D PROJECTS

I love creating 3D paper projects, whether they are gift boxes or bags or decor items, because they move beyond being a two dimensional card and can be used for so many occasions.

Another reason I love creating 3D projects is that it makes me use my brain … and my sometimes unreliable maths skills … followed by my problem solving skills.

Today, I have a triangular gift box to share. It will be perfect to hold lots of mini chocolate Easter eggs.

As I am featuring the Daffodil Daydream Bundle this week, these are the colours and products I have used for this gift box.

The gift box measures 3″x 2″x 2-1/4″. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to use Creately to prepare a template yet – stay tuned.

I used this concept, that I found on the internet, and experimented with a variety of measurements.

After several ‘drafts’; I measured, marked, cut and scored the gift box base using Basing White cardstock – 10-1/2″x 7-1/4″.

I used this Crushed Curry daffodil design piece of Daffodil Afternoon DSP to cut panels for the rectangular and triangular outer sides of the gift box.

For the front panel, I made two daffodils from a piece of Simply Marbleous 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The DSP was the Bumblebee piece and I added Crushed Curry ink using a Blending Brush. (thanks to Patty Bennett for this technique tip).

I attached the two daffodils to the front of the gift box and then stamped and die cut the Easter greeting. The greeting is from the Celebrating You Stamp Set and was cut with the smallest of the Scalloped Contours Dies. The butterflies were stamped and cut using the Daffodil Daydream Bundle.

After taking these photos I decided to add one small yellow Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the greeting panel. You can see this when I recreate this project during my Facebook Live.

I cannot wait to fill this gift bo with lots on mini Easter eggs. It will make a great gift for someone special.

Tomorrow is Fun Fold Firday and I have a few ideas floating around in my head. I hope you can pop back tomorrow to see what I have made.

Until then, happy stamping.

3D THURSDAY – IT’S TIME FOR A NEW GIFT BOX DESIGN

Thanks for joining me for today’s 3D Thursday project. I will be making this on my Facebook Live today and will add a video tutorial to my Youtube channel soon.

Let me know what you think of this project.

The gift box is 6″ long and each side is 3″ wide. Here are some instructions that may help.

I used a 12″x 12″ piece of Mango Melody cardstock and cut and scored the box using the instructions above.

Then I cut some of the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP for the panels and triangular ends.

I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round off the corners of the front flap.

To assemble the triangle I used Stampin’ Seal + on the flaps that are on the triangles. Then I wrapped the sides up and pressed the edges together. A bone folder made it easier to secure the adhesive in place.

I used super strong magnets to help hold the box flap in place. Mini Glue dots were used to secure them in place.

To finish the gift box I used one of the Brilliant Rainbow Dies to cut the gift tag. I stamped the greeting on this tag and then added some ribbons through the rainbow cut aways. They were gathered up and tied with a piece of white Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack. The tag was then attached to the front of the box using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I’ll come back and add a link to the Youtube video tutorial once I have uploaded it.

Tomorrow is Fun Fold Friday and I have a card ready to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping.
