Hello and welcome. Thanks for popping by to see today’s project.
It is Wednesday, so it’s a Freshly Brewed Project Blog Hop.
The theme this week is based on the BUTTERFLY BOUQUET SUITE. It has been a few weeks since I dabbled with this gorgeous suite of products. I decided to make a slimline card so that I could fit some of the larger butterflies onto the card front.
I started by stamping the butterflies onto Basic White cardstock using Smoky Slate ink. Although all the butterflies were stamped and die cut, I only used the three largest ones. Then I used three of the Watercolour Pencils to colour the largest butterfly. Because I stamped the butterflies in Smoky Slate, I decided to use this as the colour for the card base.
I chose the spotted Calypso Coral Butterfly Bajou 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper because it teamed up well with the Smoky Slate. The length of the slimline card was perfect for the diagonal length of the DSP – 8-1/2″. On the reverse side of the DSP I drew a fine pencil line from corner to corner (the top and bottom points you can see on the card front). Then I measured out 2″ from each side of that line. After I cut along these lines, I had the main piece of DSP you can see. I trimmed down the remnants from this to create the corner triangles, leaving a sliver of gray exposed.
I wrapped a length of Smoky Slate Textured Ribbon around the DSP and used it as the background for the coloured butterfly. The greeting is from the Elegantly Said stamp set and cut using the Label Me Fancy punch. I am going to love using this greeting – the fonts are lovely.
Now if you know me, you know that I am not shy when it comes to using Stampin’ Dimensionals. As you might realise, each butterfly and the greeting have been popped up using dimensionals. The finishing touch was to add some Metallic Pearls across the card front.
I didn’t want to waste any offcuts. These two strips, adhered onto the card insert, were what remained after I cut the small triangles for the corners of the front of the card. This ensures that all the elements of the card tie in together.

Happy stamping.
