TECHNIQUE TUESDAY IS HERE

The Mother’s Day card today features the use of the Thankful Garden Masks and Blending Brushes to colour the floral image.

TIP: when using the masks make sure you take a pencil and mark the notched corner of the first mask and then align the remaining masks to that guide.

There are three floral and two leaf masks in this collection.

The card base is Fresh Freesia and the black and white paper is from the Lovely Garden 12″x 12″ Designer Series Paper pack.

I wrapped a length of the Fresh Freesia fAux Velvet Ribbon around the DSP panel.

I used the Fresh Freesia and Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pads for this card. The colours were applied lightly at first and then more heavily with each mask layer – this is great way to build up the colour intensity.

After colouring and die cutting the flower used Stampin’ Dimensionals to lift it up over the ribbon.

The greeting, from the She’s the Greatest Stamp Set, was stamped and then cut using dies from the Stylish Shapes Dies.

The card insert and back of the envelope had more of the black and white DSP added to them.

The final step was to add some of the Fresh Freesia gems from the Tinsel Gems Three Pack across the front of the card.

Tomorrow I have another card to share with you.

Until then, happy stamping and scrapbooking.

If you live in Australia, you can order any of the products I used to make this card by going to my online store. As you read through this post, you will see the products I used for this project. The new items are available from May 6th.

A WEEK OF MOTHER’S DAY PROJECTS

In the lead up to Mother’s Day, I thought I would focus on projects for this special day.

My first project is in memory of my mum. I created a scrapbook layout and popped it in a shadow box frame.

I used this floral paper from the Celebratory Sips 12″x 12″ Designer Series Paper pack.

The title was made by adding Adhesive Sheet to the back of some BLackberry Bliss card and then cutting the letters out using the Alphabet A La Mode Dies.

The three photos were mounted on Blackberry Bliss mattes and attached to the DSP.

Finally I cut lots and lots of flowers and leaves in the coordinating colours and attached them to the white matte to create cascading floral features.

The flower dies are from the Country Flowers Dies and the leaves from the Thankful Garden Dies.

The top left photo is mum in 1952 when she was 12. The larger photo is from 1962 when she was 22 and the last photo was from 1965 just after we returned from an overseas Air Force posting.

I love the idea of framing a scrapbook layout and having it out on display for the family to see.

My next post will be a Mother’s Day card.

Until them, happy stamping and scrapbooking.

I will be able to create a product list, with all the new products, from May 6th. In the meantime I will share a partial current product list.

FUN FOLD FRIDAY – TIME FOR ANOTHER PROJECT

My Fun Fold card today was inspired by Jacque Williams. It is a Never Ending Card.

When I saw Jacque’s project I tried to remember the last time I had made a Never Ending Card. So I knew it was definitely time to make another one.

The front page features the DSP, Crushed Curry card and the All Zipped Up stamp set. I have also added star and heart die cut shapes.

The second page introduces another DSP design, Blueberry Bushel card and ink, star die cuts and stamped spot images.

The third page has another DSP and more die cut stars and a heart.

The fourth and final page also features a different DSP design, Basic White panels for recording a birthday greeting and a single star die cut.

Well, I haven’t made one project that looks like a jacket or cardigan this week. I am so pleased that I found other ways to use this bundle and I hope that inspires you to think ‘outside the box’.

I haven’t decided what to feature next week – but, give me a little time and I’m sure I will have something that you will like to see.

Until then, happy stamping and scrapbooking.
